We have just finished setting up our second 7700. It occurred to us that if the controller or screen were to fail we need a back up for getting into service/diagnostics. We are aware of the Service UI utility on the CD but we cannot get our laptops to connect even after loading the drivers.

Is there a trick we are not aware of? and is there a way to make the mouse pointer be on top instead of hidden where you have to guess where you are (if you connected via laptop you'll know what I mean)?

I don't know about connecting the service utility, but there's a setting in VNC you need to change to see the cursor.

When you VNC to the KIP, click the VNC icon at the top left of the VNC window. Click on options, go the MISC tab and UNCHECK RENDER CURSOR Locally.

You should be able to see the cursor.

All you need to do is imagine you're moving the cursor to the top left, click and you will be able to see the cursor, in VNC or if you hook to a different monitor, always works. Don't need to go and change settings. Just remeber click in the top left.
