I have an OCE' 9300 and I'm not sure how to set this up as a network printer. I t has this centronics to RJ45 adaptor all in one piece. Going into the machine panel and checked the connection options, I don't see any option for TCPIP only centronics and serial is available. Is there anyone out there that might be willing to share any information on how to do this.

Thanks in advance.

is the adaptor a transceiver or an HP print server?

is this what you need?

Connecting and setting up TCP/IP printing (9300EPC / 9400-II)

Ethernet connection General
On your controller you find both an AUI transceiver connector (10 MB/s) and an RJ45 connector (10 or 100Mb/s).
Ethernet connections can therefore use Thin or Thick Ethernet or UTP cabling.

Note: it is advisable to use the RJ45 100 Mb/s to have the highest possible performance.
AUI: 10 Mb/s only.
RJ45 (UTP): 10 & 100 Mb/s simultaneously.

Ethernet cabling
An AUI (Attachment Unit Interface) connector is meant to connect a cable from the network interface card in your controller to a transceiver mounted on the backbone Ethernet cable. The backbone cable may be Thin or Thick Ethernet cable.

UTP (Unshielded Twisted pair) cable should have RJ45 plugs.

Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the computer’s Ethernet port.
Connect the other end to the printer’s Ethernet port

You have to configure the printer IP address, subnet mask and default gateway IP address (check with your local administrator).
Each of these four addresses are composed of 4 numeric field ranging from 0 to 255. E.g. 194.2.66.146 or 255.255.255.0.
On the menu the following order is presented field 0, field 1, field 2, field 3.

On the Océ 9300EPC / 9400-II SMB printing is supported for the following types of workstations:
Windows 95/98
Windows NT 4.0

Setting up SMB on Windows 95/98 and NT

Note : As the SMB protocol is implemented on top of TCP/IP, the TCP/IP printing must have been setup on the 9400-II before being able to print via SMB.
Once the IP address, subnet mask have been setup, the Océ 9300EPC / 9400-II is standard configured for printing via SMB.

Default values:
Workgroup: OCE-PRINTERS
Device Name: P-xxxxxxxxxxxx where xxx are the ethernet address of your printer e.g. P-08003E27E100.
Please contact your local service technician for modifying these default values.

Note: Be sure that you do not have two printers with the same device name.

See how to install a remote 9300EPC / 9400-II printer via SMB protocol in the "Host "part of the INSTALLATION chapter.

Chazbo, the printer has no ethernet port that's why it has this centronics to ethernet adaptor the brand is CABLETRON TPT-4. If I go to the printer panel Program-connection, there's no option for ethernet only serial and centronics.

OK Big...what you have is a 10 base T transceiver. give it to your local museum...lol. you can use a computer as a print server or I would purchase an HP external jetdirect print server(model 300X) and patch cable to the network. you will need a parallel to mini centronics cable also.
