It likes to stick. Since it is near the fuser lamp, lube the bottom two gears along the chain path with a very heavy heat resistant lube. Try not to get anything that will run off the chain. I am sure the lamp will explode into a million and two pieces if any flammable liquid should hit it.

I've had excellent results with light oil that I use on HP plotters(sliding rods).I also use this oil to lube the deck drive chain on the 8K printer and on the cutter(stay assembly)

Is that like a Tri Flow oil? The thing about the 1880 chain is that it is subjected to some high heat. You need something that won't cook off.

I used to have a big can of blue silicon brake grease. Worked like a champ in situations like this. You can get a high temp silicon grease at any auto parts store fairly cheap.

I know I'm stepping in late, but I use Mobil One. Yeah! that's right Mobil One motor one. 100% synthetic and withstands the heat. And the best part for $3.79 you get almost a life times supply. Just take a spill proof bottle and keep refilling it. 3 techs have worked on one quart for over 4 years now.

I know I'm stepping in late too. But I have always used wheel bearing grease. It is only a couple of bucks and it comes in a butter like tub. So it last's for ever.

Enough of the I use sh!T. When you use a high temp grease it tends to tie up the links in the chain. take the chain off , take it out side and spray it with wd 40. Work the links free and dry chain off. Then put the chain back on. (or of course you can order a new chain to) Very Happy
