OK, I have a 1880. 36" bond. It puts a 1.5 to 2" lead edge on the prints.
It gets NO buckle in the media path, therefore I get skewed cuts and a smear thru the middle of the print. Cut sheets seem to copy OK.
I have a manual. I thought the rack gear assembly might be the cause. That sure was fun to replace, for no reason apparently.
The reg. clutch is my next culprit. But it's on backorder.
What do you think?
If a sensor was bad it would give me an error code, would it not? The only code I get is a J3, the exit sensor. I tried a panic stop and found no buckle in the media.
The machine looks new inside. We inhearited it. Meter shows 10258. |

If the pocket door is opening (the thing with the worm gear) then it is most likely a worn FW roller. But first check to be sure the u turn guide right before the drum is securely latched closed. Kip had a tech bulletin about the FW roller. part number 1157400022 Forward roller. _________________ What we have gained in technology, we have lost in humanity. |

I actually just reread your post. I would say to be sure to check the u turn guide and then I would move to the registration roller clutch. Sounds like the clutch is not pausing like it should. I do not think the FW roller is your problem. _________________ What we have gained in technology, we have lost in humanity. |

What do I check for on the U turn guide? I don't recall any adjustment of it?
When I did a panic stop, the media was skewed and stopped in the U turn. It may have been skewed due to the previous cut though.... |

There are two green release latches on the u turn guide ( one on each end). Make sure they are both firmly latched into place. This is a common thing operators do after removing a jam they forget to relatch the guide or they don't latch it all the way. _________________ What we have gained in technology, we have lost in humanity. |

I would also check for little scraps of paper stuck at the entrance to the u turn baffle. Operators tend clear jams by pulling paper out at the roll leaving a little triangle shaped piece of paper on the actuators or on baffle edges. The next sheet pushes it to the u turn baffle and there you get jamming or skewing. |
