I have a 8000 in the field that the customer has to date about a dozen or more un-used rolls mostly 36" (about 10mm or less still on roll). It can't be narrowed to just that drawer. They say they have switched spindles and drawers and it will still do it. I have seen this on other printers, but it is usually because the paper wasn't wound on the core tight enough. causing the paper to slip actingf as if the break were lose. This doesn't seem to be the case, all the paper is wound tight. _________________ Terry Crawford

Replace the paper feed clutch that is mounted behind the left side panel on the machine frame for the offending drawer.( there are four of those clutches in there, one for each roll. Two are hidden behind a circuit board. _________________ What we have gained in technology, we have lost in humanity. |

We had a simular problem the brake on the paper spindle was to tight and our Kip 8000 would leave about ten yards on the paper roll.At the same time it would back it self out of the take up roller. upon removing some of the brake we now have about 12in's left on the paper roll. |

Greetings KipDoctor,
Can these clutches be cleaned or simply tossed and replaced??
I have a 8K that is also failing to use the entire roll. I have tweeked the spindle brake till I am blue in the face and have gotten only moderate success...
Thanks

Unfortunately to clean the clutches you have to take them apart. To take them apart you have to break them.
They must be replaced with new.
At least they don't cost too much. _________________ What we have gained in technology, we have lost in humanity. |

Thanks for the info.
I was reaching the same conclusion but thought it best to ask before applying the "The solution to the problem is more gas." rule of thumb...
What is happening in these clutches that causes the false end of roll problem??
Are they slipping or what??
