I'm trying to do the white balance calibration (shading) in service mode. I followed the instructions but I can not get the scanner to start the calibration. I press and hold the stop/eject button for 5 sec and longer (30 + sec) but the binking orange LED will not stay on for the calibration. Any suggestion? |

Try using the firmware loader software or the "KIP Adjust - K98 White Balance" software to do the shading.
The manual details how. I always have had better luck using it rather than doing it at the scanner.

If you want to do a shading from the service mode, you have to unplug the USB cable BEFORE entering in service mode ( before power on the scanner ).
This is not write in the service manuel.
I had the same problem as you and someone told me this and it works each time...

Once again my own forums saves my ass. I had one of last service contract machines act up and do this same thing. Ran the shading and it resolved the issue. Not sure if I would have though of that. Thanks to all involved and especially Scott and Ray Newman where ever you are. _________________ What we have gained in technology, we have lost in humanity. |

Doing the Shading in service mode and it has been running for 15 minutes. How long should this take? _________________ "If you mess with a thing long enough, It'll break" |
