We have a machine that is printing with a cloudy void.. then that missing image is printed lightly later on the print... Our technician rebuilt the dev unit with the kits from KIP... We also replaced the mc, sep, and trans units...
What is the normal cause for this issue? dev blade? potential fuser pressure issue? |

We had this issue on one of the early machines. It would happen on any print over four feet long. We adjusted every setting in the book to no avail. KIPtech came out and did the same. We never did get a resolution, or assistance otherwise from KIP, ended up placing it in a site that doesn't print long drawings, and then eating the replacement of the original customers printer. |

Measure the distance from the void to the reprint to see if it is from the drum, fuser, or developer assy.
If it is on long prints you can try to adjust fuser speeds. |

It is 251 mm... Im not very smart for not thinking to measure... Anyways.. it is a new drum.. I did no adjustments, just put in the new drum. It always happens in the same place.. about 12 inches off of center on one side. We swapped transfer assy's with no change.. I assume we will replace the drum again to troubleshoot... Any other ideas? |

Remove the right side cover and watch the paper going through the T/S unit. If it is pulling the paper tight, this could be your problem.
Start by checking the pressure on the fuser roller. Pull the fuser assy out and try to turn the drive gear by hand. If it won't turn or is really hard to turn, lighten up on the pressure until you can turn it fairly easily. Usually 3 or 4 rotations on both sides will do.
If the problem still exits, try slowing down the fuser speed.
Good Luck. |

cjwilt is right that you should look in that area. The missing image could be caused by the paper being pulled too tight or also not laying flat as it passes by the T&S assy. Causing the image to not be tranfered to the paper.
Also if the problem started after the tech rebuilt the develpoer unit. You might want to make sure that the developer unit is pressurized properly and it was pressurized with no toner on the developer roller or regulation roller. |

If the Image on the print is light and then you get a light ghost on the next print your problem is with the transfer. You may need to replace the transfer wire or if it only happens at the beginning or ending of the page (printing light) you may have a roll of paper with too much curl. |

New heat roller and pressure roller... that seemed to fix the problem. It has only been 2 days, but I have not heard that it is not working. I assume that the pressure roller was pulling the paper unevenly causing the issue on 42" prints. |
