I have a KIP 3000 with right at 200,000 sqft on the meter. Getting a void 3/4 down on the one side of the print (please see sample image) http://repro360.com/files/kip3000_001.TIF I have swapped developer units, fuser units, HVPS, adjusted the fuser speed on # 436 to 15 from 20 replace the firmware and the transfer sep unit as per the bulletin TB-K105-034a made adjusts ment as per fuser speed TIP K105-009 30 Inch - Voids - Motor speed. I am beginnig to think it is a cutter issue or more specifically a paper buckle issue, I have not adjusted the main motor speed yet.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

The customer runs 24" and 30" roll and this problem shows up on the 24x36 on the 24" roll. it does show a little on 30x42 but the customer can live with that. They refuse to use a 36" roll because they print a lot of 18X24's

see sample image here http://repro360.com/files/kip3000_001.TIF

your thoughts

Did you check the LED head? I have this occasionally ,and on other models to .Looks like toner or dust on the head. A simple wipe of the head could be the fix.

It does look like the paper is pulling off the drum. Maybe you could do a stop print when it is in that spot to check for the image on the drum. I have seen transfer problems with the metal shield that is in front of the T/S assembly. It has springs on the left and right side. If that spring comes off it will not push the paper up against the drum hard enough. Just a thought...

cjwilt you were in the ball park it turns out the the drum collar (flange) retainer on the left side of the drum, was pushing down on the transfer sep unit causing the poor transfer. I have to give cudos to one good KIP tech for his help on this one. He didn't know exactly what was causing the print quality issue, but was a great help narrowing down the problem.
