That 8000 was installed a few months ago, in a reproshop. It had 440 000 sq ft, printing light on the left side. After a couple of toner boost that lasted for about 50 prints, we decided to replace the dev unit and investigate the old one to figure out what was going on. The mylar that rubs against the dev roller had tiny accumulations of what looks like toner, or particles of something... and these were rubbing against the dev roller, scraping it slowly. The new dev unit lasted an afternoon, then got pale again ! The old unit was refreshed, got new toner from another batch. It held for a week now, but I got a call this morning for pale middle section. The coronas were just replaced, so obviously it's pointing at the dev unit again. They have 50% humidity in the shop, so it *should* be in specs. I'm getting frustrated now...

I checked all the voltages, they were a couple of volts off, but still within specs. They are now dead-on. Wire heights are on specs. Everything is specs except the strobe timing I had to drop to 25 because of grayshades being too dense. The blacks were solid, but I gotta go see how they are this morning.

Any idea ? Have you ever had a bad batch of Kip 8000 toner ? I'm I missing on something ?

Sounds to me like a toner adding issue. Could be a bad toner add motor (seen that) or could be a bad connection of the developer toner sensor back to the CPU (seen that too). I think you have determined that the developer unit is not the cause, but it is showing the effect. Look deeper and I think you will uncover it . Let me know if I can help anymore.
