See KIP the KIP TIP-K96-003 Cutter Errors.
As far as removing the cutter if you have never done it before you will most likely need a manual. After the KIP 2000 it is the worst out of the KIP machines to remove.

You probably won't have to remove the cutter.............Just take off the white panel above the paper drawers( 3 screws each side but the LEVER is in the way on the left side) so look at it carefully you should figure that out. Anyways once you get that panel removed you then have access to the cutter which probably needs to be cleaned. Sometimes the switches need a little adjusting (at either end of the cutter, adjust the arm but be careful not to bend it too much).
Power up the machine with the cover off and you can test it.......just push the cutter away from either "home" switch.

PPCpete, I used your method of getting to the cutter this way the other day. Works great. A bit easier than the way I was doing it before by removing the paper decks and going in from underneath. I left off the screws that are behind the handle housing so next time it will be even easier. Great tip. See, even the Doctor can learn things from these humble forums. Thanks again.

When you have the panel that covers the cutter removed from the machine, you will notice that it consists of 2 metal pieces that are held together by 4 or 5 screws (I can't remember the exact number). Remove these screws and separate the "L" shaped piece from the main panel. Store the "L" piece safely under the machine or in some other secure area. Re-attach the main panel to the machine, but use longer screws (at least 1cm or 1/2") in the top hole on each side of the panel. Omit the remaining screws, allow the longer screws on either side of the panel to be the only things securing the panel to the machine. DO NOT tighten the screws completely, leave them just a little bit loose. You can now access the cutter for cleaning by simply sliding the process unit and the upper paper roll drawer forward, then rotating the bottom of the cutter cover panel away from the machine. The panel will rotate forward only about 30 degrees, but this will be enough to access the cutter for cleaning without having to remove any panels! There will be about a 1" gap at the top of this panel due to the "L" bracked that you removed, so be sure to get the "OK" from your customer. This is especially useful for those machines that are far away and for those accounts that have competent people to clear the cutter jams. This has saved me more than a few long distance service calls just to clear paper slivers from the cutter.
