Hi There,
I'm just assuming that a 9000 is an 8000 with IPS and 600dpi.
I have three well used KIP7000's in our repro department.
The manager wants to bring in two more 7000's to replace our
oldest units.
My question is:
1) are the 9000's (assuming they are updated 8000's) a much
better unit than the 7000's as far as reliability and breakdowns go?

The 7000's I have been keeping running can prove to be quite challenging
at times. Is this just me, or do you guys have abnormal amounts of breakdowns with these things?

I do not have any 8000's out there and do not know these units at all.
What have your experiences been?

I think the manager would order in some 9000's if they would be a better, more reliable machine.

Thanks for your opinions.

Peter, yes the 9000 is an updated 8000. I personally think the 8000 (9000) is the best machine you can get, bar none. Speed alone should help convince your manager, but I also think your service time would drop signifigantly. My 2 cents.

Regards!

I agree with Doug. The 8000 is the most reliable KIP machine I have worked on in the past 8 years of working on KIP's.

Here are the kip reccomended service rates for both chassis... as you can see.. KIP says it costs a fair amount less to run an 8000 per square foot... Add that to the increased speed and it should be a no brainer... (it sure seems like you are running enough footage to justify it)
7000:
monthly fee / allowance / overage
Plan 1 $245 /5,000 /$0.0250
Plan 2 $595 /25,000 /$0.0180
Plan 3 $845 /50,000 /$0.0130
Plan 4 $1,595 /100,000 /$0.0110
8000:
Plan 4 $1,295 /100,000 /$0.0100
Plan 5 $1,795 /150,000 /$0.0090
Plan 6 $1,995 /200,000 /$0.0085
Plan 7 $2,295 /250,000 /$0.0080
Plan 8 $2,495 /300,000 /$0.0075
