I have a customer that has a 2720E that after about 50 D-size prints it starts printing black. After clearing the jam they let it sit for a few hours and after that, machine prints fine. I noticed that the primary charge assy. and the wire was damaged so I replaced it(set the wire height, which was matching the specs)) It ran fine for about 3 weeks and started doing the same thing. Do you agree that this could be a bad HV pack? Do any of you have one that is used? This customer does not want to spend a lot of money.
Thanks in advance. |

I would first change both end blocks on the primary charge assy... also make sure you replace the hight adjusters too... It could be the HV pack, but it is pretty rare... also want to make sure your drum ground is good on the right side... |

Good advice Phan.
I would also check the tension on the wire and the condition of the grid. Also make sure the machine is breathing properly. Check ozones.
99.9% of the time black copies=primary charge problem. _________________ What we have gained in technology, we have lost in humanity. |

Also, I have seen problems with the HV connector on the main charge. Check it for a weak spot. They tend to get worn out over time. |

Thanks to all of you that responded. I have checked the wire height & tension ,screen and end blocks on the P. charge when I installed it.(new one). I also replaced the wire going from it to the HV pack. Drum ground is good and greased with proper lubricant. Judging from the way this machine looks on the inside, ozone filters were probably taken out the machine years back.
The old charge assy. was doing the same thing and also someone stripped the screw that holds the end block .It allowed the screen sag so much it almost touched the drum. I don't think it did, drum looks good. |
