I have a couple of KIP Color 80 printers. One we have had for a little over year, the other we have recently installed.

The first KIP has started printing the following message at each of the four corners of the print, as well as in the center:

Quote:
The feature you have selected requires
an additional Option or License to be purchased.
Please contact your KIP Dealer.

This message doesn't appear on every job. It seems to appear randomly, about once every 20 or so jobs. But I can re-print the same job, using the same settings, and the message disappears!

I spoke to a KIP technician about this. He said he had not ever seen this issue himself, but suggested defragging the HDD and seeing if the issue re-appeared. I have performed the defrag, and, after two days of running the machine, have not seen the issue come back. Stay tuned!

The second KIP is another story:

After receiving the newer KIP, we noticed several issues in the general behavior of the controller and decided on the "nuclear option" - a complete IPS restore from the DVD (ver. 7.2.275). Now the controller runs wicked fast, but every print sent from KIP Request has that message on it!

Have I missed a step in the restore process? Have I turned the controller into a digital paperweight?

What are you using to print from on the first printer(s) you mentioned?

For the second KIP, did you put your keycodes back in? Sounds like you didn't do that.....

I put in the key code for KIP RIP Pro 1.0. That's the only key code I have received from the seller we purchased it from. So far, I don't have a key code for the KIP Color, but I do have a dongle for it.

Go to KIP Production station then the ? button, then the configuration button, then screen 2 of 4, select options. Is there anything checked in there?

The IPS Restore DVD didn't install KIP Production Station. Where can I find it?

Hmmmm I thought it would have installed that. What programs did it install?

I'm not sure where you can get it other than the ghost image.

KIP KC80 RIP, KIP Request, KIP PrintNET, KIP Color, and KIP Unattend Print Queue.

KIP CPS did not install, but is available from the PrintNET interface under "Info / Help".

Sorry, jezebel09. I didn't answer your first question:

I'm printing from both KC80s using KIP Request.

is there any data behind the = ?

That's the problem. You should contact KIP to get the keycode.

Thanks, cjwilt, for your wealth of knowledge and patience with n00bies!

This machine was sent "naked" - none of the required documentation that would have made this easier. Gotta love it... But we'll "GIT-R-DONE".

OK, we're not quite out of the woods yet.

The nice lady at KC3 sent me a list of keycodes, but no clear explanation where these codes must be entered, and I don't have any documentation telling where or how to do so. The codes she sent are as follows:

KIP Serial #
Hardware ID
IF Serial
IPS #
Print Code
Print PDF

Try putting the "Print PDF" code in the winuntd.ini file where is says keycode=

Make sure to close the unattend program before editing the ini file. After editing the file and saving it, open unattend and test.
