We're running KIP Color 1.9 on an XP work station and plans are afoot to replace all the production work stations with Win 7. KIP color also uses a dongle. Anyone have any experience with KIP Color 1.9 and Win 7? _________________ Regards,

Not sure if this helps but I have Kip Color 7.4 SP6 hooked to 2300 scanner via USB and using the dongle. The workstation is Win7Pro 32 bit. It would not work 64 bit. Also the computer is a home brew unit. Tried it on a Dell loaded w/ Win7Pro 32 bit and it would constantly lock up. That same Dell is working fine as workstation w/ Request, Adobe, etc. |

KIP Color 7.4??? Boy are we way behind. Additionally, purchasing insists on buying Dell. I suggested that we buy 1 computer and start installing software we use to see what works and what doesn't. Think they listen to me??????? _________________ Regards,

Mark,
What kind of scanner are you running with this?
Also, purchasing is ALWAYS correct. They know what to purchase, hence the "purchasing." After they purchase the Dell that you recommend they not, they can purchase another workstation. Job security |

It's a 2100
I'm not going to recommend anything this time, you speak the truth. I will pull together a spec sheet and let a Dell rep deal with it. _________________ Regards,

I don't think KIP Color 7.4 will work with the 2100 scanner. You may want to call KIP and see if they developed a software that will run the 2100 on windows 7 first. |

I have a 2300 scanner running 1.9 at a local city building department. I worked for hours and while I can get the usb driver and dongle to work on a 32 bit Win 7 machine, the software will not work. Twain will work, so you can use Acrobat or another Twain scanning software but that's it.
And Kip Color 7.x wont work with the 2100 or 2200 scanners.
And Kip's answer was essentially that it was time to upgrade the scanner, end of life etc....

Yes, I believe the KIP2100 uses the old scan software. The software is not compatable with Win7. I believe 6.5 was the last version for those scanners. |

I guess that is that huh. Anyone know of scanning software that will work with a 2100 and Win7? I'm thinking maybe Adobe Pro? _________________ Regards,

That's probably your best option. Hopefully the usb driver works on windows 7 and I would make sure it's a usb2 port and not a usb3. That could cause you problems too. |
