Its a pagewide 8000 using smartstream that randomly looses connection to smartstream. A reboot will make it good again but its happening too often.
The printer is not dropping off the network.
Any suggestions???

So the 8000 drops out of smartstream and rebooting the workstation running smartstream brings it back?
Is smartatream using a dongle license or EON? |

This place has a dongle License.
There is approx. 50 clients with S.S. printing to the Pagewide.
I believe there is a License dongle on the Server and another dongle on the printer controller, (next to the Pagewide).
When this occurrs no one can print to it using SmartStream. _________________ PPCPete |

Do you know if they have tried to re-add the printer as opposed to rebooting the workstation? If so what happens?
If it is happening to all 50 users its not likely workstation related. I have seen strange things like that happen when there is a conflict with RMS license manager. If they are using an EON for the pre-flight license it could be RMS related.
I would also look at the version they are running. There has been quite a few version updates to smartstream over the years.
Could also be the clients network having issues. Lots of options =) |
