We have a well maintained, solid 9900 and are trying to move to the latest Windows Server version (or any newer one over 2008) and I have an odd issue with the driver.

Whether I use the v8.147 (from the old box) or the last one v8.159, I get the same behavior.

The Preferences dialog is blank - other than a title tab - and there are no editable settings.

Any advice or confirmation of an issue is welcome!

Save yourself a lot of trouble, uninstall the driver from the server and install the driver on the computers that need it. You really don't need to push it out from the server unless there is a tracking program for the printer that lives on the server.

To add to what Mark is saying...I always feel it's better to add the printer driver on the user's workstation, rather than sharing the driver from the server unless you have a lot of users.

BUT, here's what you're probably experiencing. Since the WPD is installed on the server and the server is probably the most "locked down" pc in the network. It's a permissions thing. You would have to go into the WPD on the server and give Full Control to all users of the WPD, which probably won't happen, depending on how strict your IT is.

If IT won't give users full control of the WPD on the server, then have them install it locally with full control.
