We recently replaced a 3000 running 7.2 with a 7170 running 8.07x
This is a purely Mac office. I set the driver up as with any Mac and it will not print. The print Queue on the Mac shows it is processing and sending the job, then the printer says it is "paused" and the job never gets to the queue.
I talked to Kip tech support and the IPS appears to be set up correctly. But I know the computer is, it was printing with the same settings to a 3000 last week.
Anyone have any issues with 8.x / Win 7 IPS units and OS X?
I would like to turn the firewall off completely, just to check. Anyone know how?
And I know the queue is set correctly, I have done it before and Kip tech support confirmed they are correct.

To shut off the firewall on the KIP, you can close down the touch screen UI and then with a keyboard and mouse, you need to get to a Windows run prompt. You can do this by pressing the windows+R keys and then in the run prompt, type services.msc and press enter.
Then scroll down to the Windows Firewall and set it to disabled. Restart the IPS so that the network and other printing services bind properly and you can test to see if anything is coming through.
I would also look in d:\monpath1\request to see if a job ticket is coming over. First close Unattend to see what, if anything, makes it to the controller. |

Had the printer pull an address from the DHCP server and it prints fine with the address it gets. Change it back to the address the 3000 was using last Friday and the job never gets to monpath1. Network guy is supposed to come in tomorrow and put in a reservation for the printer in the DHCP server. Go figure. _________________ Any ideas expressed are figments of my imagination.

And thank you for the info on shutting down the firewall, it did not help in this case but it is good to know. _________________ Any ideas expressed are figments of my imagination.

Do you have the MAC/Unix Printing guide from KIP? We had a guy come in with a MAC laptop and wanted to connect to our KIP7100. They did the add printer > IP Printing > LPD/LPR > (IP Address) > Queue name should be KIP >Printer model should be Other. He used the KIP600.PPD and was able to connect. But at first he had the same issue. He would send a print and it would send the print but nothing was coming out of the printer or showing up in the print queue on the IPS, it was because he had left the Queue Name blank on setup. Once he put KIP in the Queue Name, voila, it started printing. |

I did check the queue name, and tried different ones.
He just called me back for the same problem. At this point I think it is a network problem and I am missing it because I convinced myself I was setting the Mac up wrong.
We will see. _________________ Any ideas expressed are figments of my imagination.

Sure sounds like an IP address problem. I would have him unplug the KIP from the network and ping its IP address. If he gets a reply, that's the culprit.
Also, plug in your own computer to it to see if it works. Has to be something dumb like that..... |

Well this one ended up teaching me that you always check the basics first, don't assume anything.
It had nothing to do with the Mac, the router was failing. I swapped it out with a new one and everything works perfectly. _________________ Any ideas expressed are figments of my imagination.
